Windows live mail directory contacts

You haven't said which of potentially many contacts lists you're trying to transfer, nor whether you were normally signed in in Windows Live Mail. The contacts lists are stored in databases whose location varies with the Windows Live Mail version and the type of list concerned. Please clarify.
